Each quarter, we spotlight the state of venture capital funding for Black founders in the U.S. to surface trends, track momentum, and highlight opportunities to invest in innovation. Using data published to Crunchbase as of April 8, 2025, we identified 17 Black-founded companies that raised equity funding in Q1 2025. Here’s what we learned:

  • Total raised: $61.9 million

  • Pre-Seed average: $963,750K

  • Seed average: $2.3M

Funding Stages

  • Early-stage dominance: 11 companies raised Pre-Seed or Seed rounds

  • Series rounds: 3 companies closed Series A or B rounds:

    • Campus (Series B)

    • Infiuss Health (Series A)

    • Yourway Learning (Series A)

HQ Geographic Distribution

  • California leads with 4 companies: Breakr, Campus, Twelve, Corvus Link

  • Florida follows with 3 companies: daba, PROTIPPZ, Yourway Learning

  • New York is home to 1 company: Ryse

Industry Focus

  • AI innovation: 6 companies integrate AI into their core models:
